Increasing numbers of people are choosing to get annual travel insurance as it conveniently covers every trip they make during the year it runs for. However, some people decide to get separate insurance policies for every trip they make. The choice is individual but one thing is certain: you DO need travel insurance.
So what would happen if you decided against getting an annual travel insurance policy?
You’d have to go through the process of getting a new policy every time you booked a holiday or weekend away.
Booking a holiday is a fun experience and one we all look forward to; however, if you don’t get an annual travel insurance policy you’ll have to get a separate one every time you decide to take a holiday away. Even if you plan nothing more elaborate than a simple weekend away in Paris, you’d still have to get a separate policy to cover the few days you would be away for.
Needless to say this can be a real hassle. Let’s suppose you go away for two weeks at the end of June, come back in the middle of July then go away for a long weekend at the end of August. This would mean you’d have to book travel insurance for first trip then another lot of insurance just a few weeks later. Time (especially holiday time) is precious, so why would you want to go through all this additional hassle?
You’d end up paying a lot more for an assortment of policies throughout the year
Cost is another very worthwhile point to consider. Each policy you purchase will cost a specific amount of money. Single policies might sound more appealing at the time because they’re cheaper, but consider the cost of buying several of them during the year and you might be surprised.
In contrast, if you were to buy one annual travel insurance policy to cover the entire year, you’ll make considerable savings. Let’s say you were taking three separate trips throughout the year – one long weekend and two separate holidays, one lasting a week and one lasting a fortnight; in this case, an annual policy would be a far more cost effective way of getting the cover you need. When you compare it to getting three individual policies (not to mention the act of arranging them) you’ll see how much easier and cheaper it is to opt for an annual policy.
In short, if you are planning on taking a few breaks over the coming year and you have yet to sort out your insurance, look into the costs and perks of an appropriate annual policy. Once you’ve arranged it you don’t need to worry about it again until the next year – couldn’t be easier!
