28,000 Football Clubs Should Net Some Football Insurance Protection

At grass roots football level group football team insurance provides protection against injury, disability or death for each of the individuals in the team from accidents whilst playing in a club fixture or at a club organised training session.

Football clubs are able to benefit from a group personal accident policy that will cover both adult and youth football teams with a policy that is much more competitive than each player taking a policy out on an individual basis.

Football team insurance through group personal accident policies can include cover for players, managers, trainers, match officials and club committee members.

A football insurance policy would provide financial compensation for loss of earnings in the event of temporary disablement by means of a weekly predetermined payment or a fixed capital benefit payout in the event of a permanent disabling injury that prevents you from returning to your usual or any occupation depending upon the policy wording.

Capital benefits compensation payouts for disabling injuries may include loss of sight or hearing in one or both ears, loss of a limb or speech, loss of an internal organ or for permanent disabling injuries. A football insurance policy would also include extensions to include cover for rehabilitation and retraining expenses, hospitalisation benefits and extra travel expenses, emergency dental treatment and home help payments and emergency medical expenses. Additional benefits can be included to loss of teeth, broken bones and physiotherapy cover should a team wish to extend cover.

Accidental death benefit would also be provided and payment would be provided to a chosen beneficiary in the unfortunate event of accidental death.

Youth teams also have the benefit of a parent or guardian inconvenience benefit in the event of unforeseen travel expenses due to an accident.

If a County FA affiliated football team takes out a group personal accident policy, the policy will provide cover whilst at any ground or premises where there is an agreed club fixture or organised training session. Cover would be in force worldwide whilst on any tour or travel with the club and whilst travelling directly to and from these activities.

Many County Football Associations are now making it a condition of affiliation that teams have in place a suitable personal accident policy that will provide cover for the individuals in a team and clubs and their committee members throughout the country are opting to buy into a football team insurance policy to avoid any breach of duty of care towards their players or claims of negligence being brought in the event of an accident.

In today’s litigious society it would be wise to consider a football insurance policy it would be even wiser to make sure your team have cover before you need it.
