It has a solid base which is an artificial compound and stops water and other liquids from soaking in. On top of this is a sticking agent which contains an antimicrobial agent to kill microorganisms and stop them from growing and spreading. FInally attached to this is a series of very thin but very densely packed upright fibres which is why the flooring is often mistake for carpet.

The fibres of flotex flooring is much more dense than carpet fibres, and they are upright as opposed to curled. This means that anything which is spilled on them will not get caught within the fibres, and a vacuum cleaner can easily remove anything which gets stuck within them. The upright fibres hold any allergens present as well meaning that the floor is great for allergy sufferers. Flotex flooring is, in fact, recommended by Allergy UK.

With the waterproof and easy cleaning features of vinyl as well as the warmth and insulating features of carpet flooring, Flotex is a fantastic option and is one which is commonly used in public places. You need not worry about liquid spillages as these will not soak in. You will need to do a bit of cleaning, however, and this details what you should do in the event of a large spillage of a food. Imagine you have spilled a piece of lasagna for example! This is what you should do:

1. Scrap away the mess
The first thing you should do is clear away the bulk of the mess by scraping it from the surface of the floor. Try using a paint scraper or something which can slide underneath the mess.

2. Scrub the floor
Get a saucepan of hot boiling water and pour a reasonable amount on the area which the spillage occurred. The apply some detergent or carpet shampoo to the spillage and scrub with a brush until you see that it is beginning to lift off.

3. Rinse
Finally rinse the area with warm clean water in order to wash away the excess spillage and to clean away the dirty liquid so that the floor does not stain. This is an important stage of the cleaning process as this stops the floor from staining. If the stain comes back then repeat stages two and three.
