Extending the Sign Up For Unemployment Insurance

Being forced to face the harsh reality of unemployment, many unemployed individuals are trying to find ways on how to keep their heads above water and get through with the economic crisis in one piece. In order to provide a certain amount of alleviation to those badly bruised unemployed individuals, several states in the US have been strengthening the structure of their unemployment insurance system to provide an ample amount of monetary assistance to those who have recently been laid off due to the onslaught of the economic recession.

The unemployed who were able to sign up for unemployment benefits had receive financial assistance from their specific states for a certain length of time or until they are able to gain new employment. But because this assistance only last for a certain amount of time, the US government allows those who sign up for unemployment to extend their benefits.

To provide extra weeks of assistance and benefits to those who are not yet employed the Temporary Extended Unemployment Compensation (TEUC) was created. This agency provides unemployment benefits to unemployed workers as funded by the federal government all throughout the country.

One of the expected follow up questions to this data is how long could the unemployed individual extend the rate of monetary assistance that he/she is receiving from the federal government. According to the guideline, the TEUC has a two-tiered program and it could last for 13 weeks tops. The calculating process of the extension will be done by the United States Department of Labor.

The eligible individuals are those who will sign up for the unemployment insurance and whose claim for regular state benefits ended during or after the week including march 15, 2001.
