Wondering what golf insurance could do for you?
Have you:
– ever had a hole in one and after the initial exhilaration, suddenly started gritting your teeth at the thought of just how much that round of drinks is going to cost at the bar later;
– stood waiting patiently for your golf clubs to be unloaded from a coach or plane only to find that there’s nothing there;
– been fortunate enough to find your golf clubs but then to discover that several of them have been reduced to splinters;
– found that a club or clubs has been stolen?
Hopefully you’ve not experienced any of these things (well, perhaps excluding that hole in one!) but if you have you’ll know exactly how financially painful it can be.
No golf insurance policy can prevent these sorts of things happening (and who would want to prevent a hole in one?) but some may help you with the financial aftermath.
A good broad golf cover policy would typically provide:
– financial protection against the cost of replacing your clubs or an individual club, if they are stolen;
– similar cover if they have simply disappeared or been destroyed in transit;
– a contribution towards that round of drinks at the clubhouse;
– help towards the hire costs of clubs if you’re forced to do so to allow your holiday or golfing break to continue.
As with any insurance product, terms and conditions, exclusions and limitations will apply and you may wish to read these carefully to ensure you understand them.
That could be a pretty powerful package of protection and avoid a much-anticipated holiday or golfing weekend being ruined.
In passing, it’s worth mentioning that assuming somebody else would pay in the event some of the above circumstances happen might be very optimistic.
Organisations, whether they’re an airline, taxi company or golf club, typically don’t readily admit liability nor may they move quickly to resolve the position.
You may find yourself involved in a lengthy squabble over liability, which, unless you’re a lawyer, you probably won’t find very enjoyable or rewarding – even if you ultimately win.
So, you could be brave and hope that those parties will somehow behave differently if it’s you or you can take steps to protect your own interests through golf insurance. It’s up to you!
