Racial Discrimination is a very common dangerous act wherein victims tend to feel like they don’t belong to that place. Racism is an act where individual is subjected to unequal treatment. Maybe because of their actual or perceived race, that’s why they are actually experiencing it.
Racism is everywhere. It doesn’t just live in a single country. It was spread widely to every continent around the world. And therefore, its effects are also spread throughout the world.
Some reason why such person is encountering this one is because of the policy. A rule or policy which is the same for everyone but has a bit unfair effects on people with particular color, nationality, descent, their race or ethnic and immigrant status. This is known as “indirect discrimination”.
Example, it may be considered as indirect discrimination if one company would imply regulations with regards to wearing of hats or other headwear during work hours. This act likely has an unequal effect on people from racial/ethnic background.
For example, it would be a “direct discrimination” if a client refuses to buy an insurance, because the agent are of a particular skin color or racial background. This act is discrimination at work.
Racial discrimination has very disturbed effects on its victims. Racist doesn’t care about how bad they can cause on their victim, doesn’t even think of their suffering. They are only thinking about their selves and the satisfaction they feel when hurting others. Sadly, this is really happening around you, yet people sometimes don’t care.
We better know their side though, the racist, to determine the common cause why such person was able to do it.
Fear of displacement and loss – It is natural for us humans to seek protection for our own kind. Which basically means, that they fear any loss of things that makes them who they are; it can include jobs, possessions, status, personal significance and even our dignity. Humans fear replacement. We don’t want to be replaced by someone who is better than us. It makes us feel unwanted and unworthy. Fear is the biggest contributors of racism. Most especially from loss, this causes them to see the difference between two people and seen as threatening of what they see on their rights.
Ignorance – It is the condition of being unaware of the things they are doing. What let racism lived is being ignorant on the world you are standing. If such person live doing a single thing over and over again and everyone else around is doing the same thing, it seems right for them. They don’t see it as a wrong thing-even if it is- because for them that is right. The only way to correct this one is to learn. Be educated and be aware of the things around you. Awareness to your actions and the possible consequences may be. Racism will thrive if ignorance won’t be corrected.
Lack of love and desire to feel superior – Those people who tend to be the most racist are those who lack confidence, self love and self-esteem. They throw all their negative feelings to their victims who they seen as weak and vulnerable. Racism comes from feeling of being worthless, unloved, unwanted and lacking of opportunity that others have. A very cause of racism is not a social act but is an individual act.
The cause of racism begins from an individual person. It can just be corrected by addressing individual actions.
