Taking A Look At LDA

LDA is an authority that is responsible for the planned development in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. In addition to the above role, the authority also regulates and issues permits in order to allow new construction and housing projects, commercial development, and private houses.

The authority was established by the Punjab Legislative Assembly under the LDA Act of 1975. It has three main wings: urban development, water and sanitation agency and traffic engineering planning agency. LDA has a board of governors that is chaired by Zila Nazim of Lahore city district.

Composition of the Board of Governors

The board of governors is made up of these people:

  • Town Nazims of all the towns of Lahore
  • Director General of the authority
  • District coordination officer of Lahore
  • Representative of planning and development board
  • Representative of the finance department who isn’t below the rank of deputy secretary
  • Representative of the housing urban development and public health engineering
  • All heads of agencies established by the authority
  • Representatives of the local government and rural development department

Directorates

The authority has many directorates that handle different functions. The most common ones are:

Administration: this one handles issues to do with employees. The directorate handles appointments, allotment of official residences to the employees, general administration, arrangement of office accommodations and a host of other activities that touch on employees.

Finance: This one handles the financial activities of employees. The finance directorate ensures that all employees open the right bank accounts. It also ensures that all employees are paid on time. If you are an employee and you need a loan, this is the department that you should visit.

Law: the legal department defends the authority in the event that there is any misunderstanding. It also advises the authority on the measures that it should take when confronted with a lawsuit.

Revenue: it has many roles such as issuing demand notices and memos. It’s also responsible for deposit verification and statement collection.

Getting a Job At LDA

As you have seen, there are many directorates that you can work at LDA. LDA usually advertises available job openings on newspapers and on its website; therefore, if you are interested in working for the authority you should regularly visit these places.

If you find a job that interests you, you should write an application and if you are qualified you will be called for an interview. Sometimes you may be required to sit for a test in order to prove that you are fit for the position.
